New Treatment for Pain
MicroVas Can Help When Other Treatments Have Failed
At ProPartnersMD, we see a lot of patients with strains and sprains, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, and scores of other injuries and pain conditions. In many cases, patients' symptoms will resolve completely within a few weeks. In fact, they probably would have gotten better whether they went to the doctor or not!
Unfortunately, there are some of our patients who struggle with chronic back, neck, shoulder, elbow, or other muscle or joint pain for months or years, the traditional treatments of anti-inflammatory medications and physical therapy have not been effective, and they are not candidates for any type of surgery. Our physicians have recently come across a medical technology that, although it was only patented in 2004, has been used successfully in treating a variety of conditions in one form or another for decades.
MicroVas Treatment
A form of electrical stimulation, MicroVas has been shown in a number of clinical research studies to increase blood flow and tissue oxygenation, decrease tissue swelling and edema, to decrease muscular and fascial pain, to promote wound healing, and to improve sensation in patients with numbness due to peripheral neuropathies. In many cases, MicroVas treatments are covered by health insurance.
At ProPartnersMD, we have administered this treatment to a number of patients and the results have been encouraging in treating a variety of conditions. Several patients with chronic numbness in their feet due to diabetes and other causes have seen significant improvement. Patients with chronic shoulder and upper back pain have also been treated effectively and even one of our physician's sons recently recovered quickly from an Achille's tendon strain due to a sports injury.
